Scrapping the two-child limit and addressing high energy bills are crucial steps. Together, these measures will help lift hundreds of thousands of children out of poverty and allow households across the country to keep the lights on.
We strongly welcome the Chancellor's decision to heed the calls of the many organisations and individuals—including Citizens Advice—who campaigned tirelessly to scrap the two-child limit, a policy that pulled 109 children into poverty every day. By scrapping it, the government has taken a vital step toward better childhoods and life chances for these children.
Our advisers see every day the impact that unnecessary, harsh policies and spiralling bills have had on households, like parents pushed into impossible choices between eating and heating their home.
These commitments mark a vital turning point. We hope the Government continues in this direction, as there's still more to do to ensure every household can live a life free from poverty."
